In recognition of his outstanding contributions to sarcoma research, treatment, and advocacy, Dr. James C. Wittig was honored with the Sarcoma Foundation of America Nobility in Science Award in 2018. This prestigious award celebrates physicians and researchers who have advanced the field of sarcoma cancer care and improved the lives of patients.
At the time of the award, Dr. Wittig served as Vice Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Throughout his career, he has treated both pediatric and adult patients with sarcomas, benign bone tumors, soft tissue tumors, and metastatic cancers.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Wittig has established himself as a leader in orthopedic oncology research, authoring numerous peer-reviewed articles and medical textbooks on sarcoma and musculoskeletal tumors. His expertise has made him a trusted educator, surgeon, and advocate for advancing patient-centered care.
