This is a pediatric, benign, subcutaneous soft tissue tumor that affects children in their first ten years of life. It primarily involves the axilla, as well as the upper arm and shoulder, thigh, inguinal area, back and forearm. It usually presents as a painless subcutaneous tumor. Most lesions are less than 5 cm, but rarely can reach 20 centimeters in size. Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is a benign tumor and is cured by local excision. This tumor does not metastasize.
