Due to the unfortunate abuse, fraud and illegal sale of controlled prescription pain medications such as Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Morphine, Fentanyl, Dilaudid, Hydromorphone, Codeine, Darvocet, Propoxyphene, Ativan, Valium, Xanax, Ambien and others, it is no longer possible to call, fax or mail prescription requests for these drugs into pharmacies.
Please be aware that any patient who is taking one of these types of pain medications and requires a refill, or a similar type of controlled medication, must come to the office and pick up the prescription in person.
Due to this restriction, it is extremely important that patients closely monitor their supply of medication so that it does not run out unexpectedly or at an inconvenient time.
It is also very important that patients DO NOT WAIT until the last day of their medication supply to request a prescription renewal. Dr. Wittig's office is closed during the weekend, and no-one is available to refill prescriptions during this time. If your prescription is scheduled to run out over a weekend, it is extremely important that you contact the office several days in advance and prior to a weekend closure in order to pickup their prescription refill in person.
For patients who take chronic pain medication, particularly those who do not live near the office, Dr. Wittig recommends that his patients consult with a pain management specialist who is close to their home.
